What is the Watercolor Anarchy Challenge?
Watercolour Anarchy is a coming-together of watercolor artists to demonstrate the beauty and diversity of the medium by showing you the many ways that a single reference photo can be interpreted in watercolor by different artists.
One of the things that comes up frequently for my students is ‘personal style’. What is it? How do I know it’s mine? How do I develop it?
Personal style is what happens when you put in a lot of brush miles and paint things your way without trying to copy someone else’s ideas of how it ‘should’ be. You tweak and interpret as you see fit. You paint your own marks. In this way, different artists can take one reference photo and come up with many beautiful paintings in many different styles.
Our Watercolor Anarchy challenge will show you the beauty of watercolor and the freedom of breaking the rules to paint things your own way.
